Difference chiropractor and bone cracker
The difference between a chiropractor and a bone cracker: what exactly? We regularly receive questions at our practices in The Hague and Leidschendam-Voorburg. We understand that, of course, although we would like to indicate that chiropractic is certainly not dangerous. It is completely safe and is even considered one of the safest treatment methods in medical science.
Yet it is not necessarily surprising that some call the chiropractor a bone cracker. It is true that a slight cracking sound may be heard during the treatment. However, that is not due to the cracking of bones or joints. Instead, it is a vacuum between the articular surfaces.
Chiropractic cracking: What Happens?
If you hear a light cracking sound, you can compare it to uncorking a champagne bottle. That also makes a lot of noise, something that scares some the first time. The same is true with chiropractic.
It is a vacuum that makes this sound. It is therefore a completely harmless process. Plus, it’s completely painless. We can tell you that, but you will also experience it yourself when you visit our practice in The Hague and Leidschendam-Voorburg. In fact, if it hurts, we’ll be the first to stop the treatment and make sure you don’t experience it again.
No difference
So in that respect there is no difference between a chiropractor and a squatter. On the other hand, that does not mean that there are risks or painful experiences. What we have come to call squatting is actually something completely different. The release of the vacuum makes a sound that we don’t know very well. It sounds slightly creaky, which is why some still refer to it as a “bone cracker” rather than a chiropractor.
Difference chiropractor and bone cracker
Although there is no difference between the chiropractor and what we popularly call a bone cracker, there is nothing to worry about. We ensure that we carry out the treatment professionally and painlessly. Keep in mind that you may feel a bit uncomfortable or experience minor complaints after the treatment. The body has a lot to process, which it has to work on especially the first (few) times. It is a sign that the treatment is working, for example to resolve pain from the spine or another part of the body.
